EIZO ColorEdge UK launches its Living, breathing colour film featuring Forbes Massie at Designjunction.
EIZO ColorEdge has released the second in its ‘Living, breathing colour’ film series featuring Forbes Massie, founder and director of the Forbes Massie architectural visualisation studio. The film follows Forbes through his home and studio as he discusses his ideas about image-making, the relationship between music and image composition, the perception of reality and the CGI museums of the future.
Shot with an ethereal and other worldly style by director Ed Andrews, the film compliments the story of Forbes Massie and how the team of digital artist’s paint with light, colour and materiality. The studio collaborates with some of the most brilliant minds in architecture today, realising the visions of practices such as Carmody Groake, Duggan Morris, Thomas Heatherwick and Herzog & De Meuron.
With its industry leading monitors for colour critical work, EIZO Limited has created the three-part film series featuring both established and pioneering image makers from different creative disciplines in which EIZO ColorEdge monitors are essential. The final film to be launched in October, will feature Framestore, an Oscar winning visual effects studio who has worked on films such as Gravity, The Legend of Tarzan and The Avengers.
Part of a wider repositioning for EIZO ColorEdge, led by Sheffield studio Peter & Paul the new marketing campaign also sees EIZO ColorEdge appear as the main sponsors of ‘The World’s Biggest Design Party’, the official Designjunction and Dezeen opening party on Wednesday 21st of September. EIZO will also appear at Designjuncton in one of the exclusive monopoly house exhibition spaces on Granary Square, curating the EIZO ColourLAB an experiential laboratory inspired space which will showcase the Living, breathing colour film series.
As well as all of this the team has launched the EIZOAward, a nationwide university competition for students studying: Graphic design, Film and moving image, Photography and Product design. The EIZOAward will run from September 2016 to January 2017 offering the winning students placements in some of the worlds leading creative institutions including: Heatherwick Studio, Rankin, Somesuch and Studio Dumbar.

The ‘Living, breathing colour ‘campaign.
EIZO Limited (UK) has commissioned Peter & Paul, a Sheffield based creative communications agency, to refresh the communications for the ColorEdge range of monitors and to position it as the definitive standard for UK professionals working in industries where colour accuracy is critical.
After speaking to some of UK’s leading design and creative professionals and ColorEdge users, Peter & Paul developed the ‘Living, breathing colour’ campaign, which seeks to communicate the evident ‘colour obsession’ that compels and inspires both EIZO and ColorEdge users. The campaign leads with a series of arresting, colour rich images shot by Perou, one of the UK’s leading fashion photographers. The images represent the micro to the macro, using the minuscule ink plumes in water to create vast sprawling compositions of an oceanic, volcanic and nebulous nature.
The range now has its own dedicated website (www.EIZOColour.com) which provides essential product information, educational content to enable a better understanding of colour management and over the coming year, will be constantly updated with a series of films featuring leading professionals in their fields discussing their own obsession with colour and the importance of accuracy within their workflow.

The first film of the ‘Living, breathing colour’ series can be found here https://vimeo.com/177032493. Shot over two days in Munich and the Austrian Alps, the film features Elizaveta
Porodina, a Munich based fashion and fine art photographer. With an obsession for colour, the film tells the story of Elizaveta’s relationship with colour and her creative process, from her wide and varying range to shooting with her muse Yasmina, ‘It’s always about trusting my instinct, colours shadows and light, you can sense that flow everywhere’.
The film series has been created in partnership with Director Ed Andrews. Ed comes from a
background in journalism and applies this critical sense of narrative to filmmaking – along with a dose of cinematic fantasy when required. He has recently directed documentary films for the BBC, Sony, Adidas, Toyota and Nowness.
A nationwide competition for undergraduate students studying four chosen creative courses which include: Film and Moving image, Product Design, Graphic Design and Photography.
Launched during the first term of 2016/2017 academic year, students will be offered a number of exciting briefs relevant to their specific disciplines and centred around colour and colour display. Completing in January 2017 the winners will receive a ColorEdge monitor of their own and will be afforded the exciting opportunity to gain experience working with some of the UK’s leading professionals through placements organised by EIZO (UK) and Peter&Paul.
